We often carry out valets or details for clients looking to sell their vehicles imminently. They realise that most buyers form their initial interest in buying a car on looks alone and stunning paintwork most often results in achieving a higher sale price – in many cases more than recouping the cost outlaid on the detail. Mrs Marsh based in the New Forest was one such client of ours. She’d had her little 106 GTi since new and was reluctantly needing to sell it after taking delivery of a new car (another GTI – this time a Golf). In this case the client was on a strict budget but knew that the current finish on the car’s bodywork would perhaps let it down and put off potential buyers. Unfortunately the car was suffering quite badly with swirls and related marks from years of drive through car washes and quick cheap hand washes. Given the budget we settled on using Autoglym Super Resin Polsh to fill most of the marks on the paint (once it was nice and clean) followed by a carnauba wax to really give the car a high shine. The engine bay was also fully cleaned and dressed to really impress a potential new owner. Here’s a run down of the process;
Mrs Marsh was kind enough to send me the images she used for her car advert – some great shots from local beauty spot Hatchet Pond in Beaulieu, the car looks fantastic in the sun and I’m sure she’ll get a great price for it.
It's almost a shame now to sell it but I know the advert will now look fantastic.
