This car is the owner’s play thing. The owner said that buying this car was like going through a second child-hood! I can see why – it’s fun just to look at! It’s a UK model Impreza Turbo 2000; however it’s had a few choice mods added to it in the form of the P1 style rear spoiler and some nicely finished Speedline Prodrive alloys. When it’s not being hooned across the New Forest, it spends most of its time tucked away in the garage, so it wasn’t too soiled when I inspected it before the cleaning commenced. There were mud-splats in the lower parts of all the panels which were typical of this time of year. The plan was to protect this car as best as possible against the remainder of the winter with the idea of keeping it looking good running well into Spring/Summer. Unfortunately time was a bit tight as the client had an important meeting at the pub (these aren’t to be missed), so I didn’t actually get a chance to clay the vehicle before adding the LSP. I think this car would have really benefited from some work with the clay bar as there were some very small bonded contaminants that were infringing upon the final shine a little. However I did ensure there was enough time to apply one of my favourite LSPs – Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid. This hybrid wax/sealant gives a lovely clear depth to the finish and provides a level of protection from the elements for up to six months. For a pampered garage dweller like Guy’s Scooby, I thought it was an ideal choice.
I think a lovely finish was achieved and the work put in here should mean the owner can keep the car looking lovely for the next few months without too much elbow grease! Which was the aim of the detail. Here’s the full process and some all important pictures;
It looks so nice... I don't think I'll ever drive it again!
